Shared business logic for iOS and Android.
Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) shares the business logic between iOS and Android: data models, the networking layer and validation, while the interface stays native on both platforms. Business changes happen in one place and reach both apps in the same release, with no drift in behaviour and no feature lagging behind on one platform. KMP is introduced step by step into the existing app, module by module, without a rewrite.
I have worked with KMP in an enterprise production environment since 2023: networking, data models, interop with existing Swift code, testing.
Native, shared or web: the scale on the blog- Which package fits us?
- If you do not know what state the codebase is in: architecture audit. If the app is crashing, has been rejected or nobody can release any more: emergency stabilization. If it is clear what is outdated and the app should live on: modernization sprint. In the intro call I tell you which one it is, including when it is none of them.
- What if the app also runs on Android?
- The packages apply to the iOS app. Shared business logic via Kotlin Multiplatform can be included; the Android interface stays with your Android team. Which form suits your product, native, shared or web, I have described on the blog.Native app, hybrid or web
- Do you work with our team or alone?
- Both happen. In an audit I work largely alone and need your team for questions. In stabilization and modernization I work in your repository and your release process, together with your team, so the knowledge stays there.
- What happens after the package?
- Every package ends with a handover and a recommendation for the next steps. Whether you implement them yourself, commission someone else, or book another package or team reinforcement with me is your decision.
